Class Offerings

My course offerings are described below. If you have something else in mind, I can always customize a program for your event. Thanks!

Fabric Postcards

fabric postcards

In this class you will learn to make adorable fabric postcards.  We’ll take the smallest pieces of fabric to make cards you can mail, trade or frame. In this class, you will learn how to use your fabric stash to put together cards that you can make mail, trade or keep.  After completion cards are 4 inches by 6 inches. We will use small pieces of fabric, embellishments, paper, etc. to construct your unique piece of art.  We will discuss color, proportion design and pattern making.  Get hooked.  Make a bunch of them.  They make great gifts.   We’ll make an abstract postcard that will be the foundation for future projects.   Then I’ll show you how to design and make our own patterns to give your cards a personal look. I’ll guide you through each step along the way.  No matter if you are a confident beginner quilter or an intermediate/advanced quilter this workshop is for you.  These cards make sewing small art quilts an adventure.  (Beginner-Intermediate) This is a 2-hour class.

Making Sugar Quilts

In this class you will learn how to take scraps from your beloved stash and put them together to make a beautiful “Suga Quilt”. I call it a “Suga Quilt” because it takes a whole lot of your sweet scraps to make this project. This quilt can be adjusted to the size you like from postcard 4 by 6 inches to a king size bed cover and every size in between. We’ll do some hand stitching. You can add special embellishments. For this project we will work using a 36 by 36 inch square. We will make the quilt top, make the quilt sandwich and hand stitch the binding. (Beginner – Intermediate) This is a 2-day class.

As seen in Quilt Folk Magazine Volume 23 the North Carolina Edition.

Painted Quilt Flower Bouquet

Yes, your paintings can become art quilts.  In this class I will show you how to take your imaginings of flowers in a vase and turn it into a work of art to hang on your walls.  Don’t know how to paint?  No problems.  The process is fun and it is easy.  We’ll talk about color values and shapes.  We will use simple shapes and the boundaries of your color palette to make your pictures come to life.  Bring your fun, your own paint, canvas and brushes.   (Beginner-Intermediate) This is a 3-hour class.

Small Art Quilts

Small art quilts can have a big impact. In this class you will learn how to use your fabric stash to put together a complete art project in a few hours start to finish. We’ll brainstorm designs that we create together, make our own patterns and sew our art projects. We’ll talk about composition; color and each student will design an 8 x 10 art quilt that can be framed. This is a 2 hour class.
